Aztex Fall To Minnesota Thunder, 1-0
I couldn't make it to yesterday's Copa Aztex exhibition between UANL Tigres and Cruz Azul, instead I was at home watching the Aztex in Minnesota on USLLive.com.
It was a disappointing game. Not just for the loss Austin ultimately suffered, but for the quality of play, which was pretty poor for most of the match. A spectator not familiar with the 2009 USL-1 table would have been unsurprised to learn that both these teams are at the bottom.
Bright spots: brand new addition Kevin Sakuda did okay, Gifton Noel-Williams got in a full 90 minutes, and Kieron Bernard had a strong game on the back line. However, I think the two biggest remaining issues for Austin are: (1) defense and (2) offense.
Here's a rundown of other post-match coverage:

Austin responded to the second-half blitz, finally finding a bit of offensive rhythm itself. A low cross in the 59th minute found Gifton Noel-Williams, who started his first game since going down with a hamstring injury, but his shot deflected off the keeper’s face and out of play, counting for a save even if it was incidental.
